Before deciding how to prepare a site, establish which requirements and documents apply. A neat detail from another project is not the starting authority.

Part 3.1 introduces Section 3 of the NCC 2022 Housing Provisions. The Section addresses earthworks, drainage and termite risk management. Its scope also points you outside the Section for earth retaining structures. It does not replace the Governing Requirements, the relevant Volume Two provisions or the conditions applying to the project.

03Section scope, application and jurisdictional changes

04Applicable detail, evidence and approved project documents

Conceptual reading sequence, not an approval flowchart.

The Housing Provisions are one part of the NCC framework, not a complete house-building manual. Other compliance pathways may be available. An alternative needs the appropriate supporting process and evidence; simply doing something different is not a Performance Solution.

Identify the right question and the person who can resolve it. You are not selecting an engineering solution or certifying site work.
